Can't use System Restore, nothing happens when I click it

I want to use System Restore because every time I right click in file explorer or on my desktop, they crash (but I'm still able to run other programs normally).
But when I try to start it, nothing happens. In the task manager, under background processes, it lists System Restore as many times as I've clicked on it!
My anti-virus software isn't reacting to anything, though.

I really need to make a system image before I send my laptop in to get a hardware problem fixed, but I don't want to carry this over in the system image once the hardwares fixed...

There's no hardware problem.

You'll be best off by removing your current antivirus completely, then setting Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and starting them too.

You can use ShellExView and/or Autoruns to figure out why Explorer is crashing.

I agree with MasterCheif you should be able to troubleshoot the issue without needing a system restore.

Running this dism & sfc batch file may help.

They take a while to finish.

Dism hangs on 20% for a long time & suddenly finishes.

Sfc may take an hour to finish.
