Hi

For the last 8 hours my Action Centre flag shows "Maintenance in Progress" when I open Action Centre and
click on maintenance it just shows "Automatic Maintenance" and "Stop Maintenance".

How can I tell what Maintenance is being run? 8 Hours seems a bit much without any other information!

Thanks

Daniel

Do a restart and see if it continues to do that... if is doing it you should consider killing all maintenance tasks from Action Center!

Hello Daniel,

Yep, that would be for Automatic Maintenance. It is recommended to allow Automatic Maintenance to run since it helps to maintain and optimize Windows. If you're using the PC at the time, then Automatic Maintenance will take longer to finish. Because of that, it's best to change it's schedule settings to have Automatic Maintenance run when you will not be using the PC and while Windows is still running, or set to wake the PC to run Automatic Maintenance when you like.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Hi

If it is scheduled maintenance the flag message is "Scheduled maintenance in progress" this one was "Maintenance in Progress"
and it ran for over 18 Hrs without my using the PC.
It seems fair that I know what is happening.

Cheers

Daniel

Well, that's the catch. I haven't seen anything that clearly has a complete list of what all Automatic Maintenance does.

So far, it's the usual scan by Windows Defender (if turned on), Windows Updates, defrag HDDs, TRIM SSDs, system maintenance troubleshooting, unknown, etc....

Thanks mate,

it is a bit (a lot) frustrating, but I guess it is what it is and I have to put up with it, but it is like having a Mac,
do it their way or no way, which is why I gave mine away.

Cheers

You're welcome. It shouldn't take that long all the time though.

Hi

You are correct, usually it take about 30 mins, but last time it took so long it came up at the end with a message
that my Hard Drive could not be repaired. :)

Cheers

Daniel
