I'm running Windows 8.1 on a desktop with 8GB of ram. I've created a 2GB Ramdisk, (SoftPerfect) and have updated my system environment variables so that all temporary files are placed on the Ramdisk. I've also set a symbolic link so that my Chrome browser cache uses the Ramdisk. I've done this to reduce read/writes on my SSD drive, and to speed up internet browsing and general use. Only a few MB of the Ramdisk appear to get used, so...
Are there any other ways that I could use the Ramdisk? both to speed up performance and reduce read/writes on my SSD which contains just operating system and programs.
Also, is there any way of monitoring the usage of the pagefile on my SSD? (No, I'm not thinking of putting that on the Ramdisk!) I think the amount of ram that I have means the pagefile doesn't get much use, but I'd be interested to find out whether I can reduce the pagefile size.
Thanks
Chris
