Maintenance before system-image-backup

Hello,Before doing a system-image-backup, with Macrium Reflect (free version), do you suggest to manually execute a maintenance process (from the Action Center), in case the previous Windows automatic maintenance didn't run (perhaps the computer was not switched on)? Even if there is no particular alert displayed?Or it is not important, and after restoring the system-image-backup, Windows 8 will continue to work without problems where it was left, even if months or years have passed since the backup? It is not important to do this, even if several automatic maintenances have been skipped? (still for the same reason: computer switched off during maintenance time).Thanks.

Hi Thomas B,

Personally, I use Macrium Reflect Free and I never do any of the prep work you are describing. Now, I am not saying that you should not do it, but I can tell you it is not necessary.

Windows 8 will continue to work without problems where it was left, even if months or years have passed since the backup

Well, the years is a bit of a stretch; however, if you created a system image 6 month ago, it would revert your PC to that exact point in time, which means you'll have to reinstall all programs that were installed during the last 6 months, as well as download all Windows Updates that were issued in the last 6 months, etc.

Hope this helps.
