CCleaner vs Advanced SystemCare, which one is better?

  1. #21

Ive been using advanced systemcare pro for a couple of years and found it good. I find the ability to choose certain cookies to be kept during removal useful in ccleaner so i would use this feature if i was really bothered.

a warning though (personally): DO NOT USE THE REGISTRY CLEANING TOOLS as they end up cocking your system up sooner or later!!!!!

i disable the shortcut fix tool in asc too as i have shortcuts to removable media that it picks up and removes otherwise when the media isnt inserted at the time

I followed my2cents' suggestion and used CCleaner for several days, it's OK. But for me, too much limitations. Big brand doesn't appeal to me if it does not cover my needs, but the one that gets my problem solved does.

That's an interesting comment. What limitations did you find?

Why these apps have registry cleaning while most people don't recommend? They work in the same way. The big difference is that who provides more services to cover issues of those people who don't know much about computer and won't mess up with their PCs. the most I want is to speed up my pc and guarantee myself a relatively faster system.

System care seemed to slow my pc down over time, cccleaner is fine.

Try AVG tune up, it's a free one day trial and will clean up your pc extremely well in that day, and you keep the changes even if you don't buy it.

So much better than advance system care.

Depends on the system. I've had good luck with ASC on some machines and not so good on others. I'd stay away from system cleaners in general. I haven't used it, but how good is the restore fuction in Win 8? I've found using an imaging program like RollbackRX in previous Windows is much better. It allows you to start fresh rather than trying to fix a broken or cluttered system.

Clean registry? Most people do not recommend to do that. How do you manage to avoid all problems?

Some will say to avoid them entirely but they have actually repaired problems for me in the past. Especially when it comes to graphics drivers.

CCleaner followed by Slim Cleaner if you want a secondary free cleaning program.

    Hi guys

I'm in the School of NOT recommending using any of these types of products.

IMO take a backup BEFORE installing any software - and if it doesn't work then just restore your image - simple - job done.

Decent OS backups don't take long on decent hardware these days --and in any case you should always be taking these regularly.

The Registry is such an integral part of the system I'd be wary of letting any 3rd party apps tinker around with it - in any case on W8.1 the install / uninstall software from within Windows itself does a pretty OK job.

The other rule is when you see nearly every download link to anything you want to install also has ads / links to these products then I'd stay away from them.

It's amazing now how often when you are directed to a download link for XXXXX the actual download link is hidden or made really hard to find - while loads of download buttons on the link download TOTALLY DIFFERENT software to the one you really want -- this seems to be getting more and more common these days too.

Just wondering if its worth getting the retail version of the cleaner. I really like it and it's never screwed anything up. Should I get the extra features by buying it? What's you opinion?
