Hallo,

Sometimes the laptob is shutting down automatically.

I dedected that when the battery becomes too low in can happen.

Some googling learned me that indeed it can happen in W8 and that there is a patch KB2845533 for it.

I have that patch so what other reason could it be (AV & malware have been running)

I can suggest you using your laptop when the power cable plugged in as much as you can. Not only it increases the performance of your laptop it also will keep your battery not fall to low state.

Be advised most laptops when they fall to low battery (when under 10% ~ 7%) the laptop goes hibernate mode automatically.

Hello,
thanks for the information, i forgot that one and found meanwhile the settings back.

I was told not to be connected permanently with the power cable.

So, at home i work on battery still i receive the indication (low battery), maybe i missed that indication now ...so that it stopped.

Is there no harm for the battery even if the charging is 100%, because than it is better to connect the power cable permanently.

regards
Ritahubert

There is no harm for the battery at 100%.
Because the Laptop automatically takes power ever seconds from the laptop power even if the cable connected.
(Strongly suggesting to connect the cable while playing or using large amount of memory).
Although you shouldn't put your PC to hibernate/sleep mode with the power cable connected its just unusable (if 100%).

I'm glad it helped you.

Hello,

Thanks for your input.

I will keep the power cable connected.

In earlier days it was told not to do it as it caused damage to the battery and that is was better for a longer live to drain it to the minimum , load it again to 100%.

Is it due to changes in technology or working within W8?

RitaHubert

For the protocol..
In modern phones its not good to keep the phone powered to cable all the time, due to battery cycles.
As long as you charge your phone more and more times, the battery cycles is getting low and that's battery health on phones.
(400 battery cycles on iPhone 4 for example)
In laptops, there is battery health and cycles. its just the battery can drain so fast that if you won't plug in cable then as long as you do something on your laptop just be advised the performance could be low and battery can drain fast.

In any device when battery is low you have to power cable it once otherwise it'll shutdown due to low battery.
If your laptop having lots of battery hours maybe you shouldn't plug in the cable so often, but as you present the problem, your battery drains fast to low statements and then the computer can't handle the stuff you do so it goes into hibernate mode.
You can read more about hibernation mode at the link below.
Hibernation (computing) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"When used to save power, hibernation is similar to sleep mode and saves more power at the cost of slower resumption."

Max.

Hi,
Thanks for your information.

The battery drain is about 3 / 4 hours.

I will keep the power cable to be sure that the fall out of the laptop was really due that reason.

Hibernate i don't want to use because i am using SSD as harddisk.
