Proxy Server

I don't know what happened but today when I tried to enter IE I received this message:

The proxy server isn't responding

  • Check your proxy settings. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. If you are on a LAN, click "LAN settings".
  • Make sure your firewall settings aren't blocking your web access.
  • Ask your system administrator for help.

If I go to LAN and remove the block with a check beside the proxy sever IE starts, however, if I log off and try to reenter the proxy server box has a check mark.

How can I fix this

Thanks

If you do not use a proxy server it should not be checked so you may have just fixed your own problem. How did it get checked? Who knows? For comparison, I do not require a proxy:

I agree with you but something is placing the X in the proxy block. The only change I made was yesterday when I updated Adobe Reader to 11.4

Hmm.. how did I miss that in your original post? It seems so clear the second time I read it. Did you happen to change that information when you edited the original post? Now, I can say that I have no idea how or what may be marking that box. Anyway, best of luck to you.
