Kernel-power 41 event - how to fix?

Hi all,

I've read through the responses for this same issue related to Windows 7 but am not familiar enough with Windows 8 to know if the same fixes would apply.

I got my new ASUS laptop on Mother's Day this year, and the first event happened a week later. I've had this same event happen 6 times since then as shown by the attached image.

I'm comfortable with computers but am not an IT person so I'm not comfortable performing tasks within my system unless I know what the heck I'm doing or why.

I have no clue why this is happening. Suggestions from the W7 forum said overclocking (it's not), heat (this last time it had been in sleep mode while I was out and within moments of waking it up it crashed), sudden loss of power (it's plugged in AND has 100% battery left) and so on. In other words, it doesn't appear to be related to any of those things. It just randomly happens.

Can someone please tell me 1) why this keeps happening and 2) how to fix it? I've been very disappointed in my new laptop since getting it; I've NEVER had such issues with a new computer before. Oh...and I thoroughly dislike Windows 8 and I doubt I'm alone in that view. :)

Thanks!

Just my two cents but consider yourself very lucky to have only received 6 of those Event ID 41 notices over a two-month timeframe. This is a fairly common anomaly and if it doesn't happen on regular basis, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Yes, it's new and still under warranty. Is this an issue covered by warranty? I bought it in AZ but now live in CA....
