Multiple SATA drives issue

Hey guys,

I'm having this weird issue/bug.
I've installed Windows 8 onto my newly SSD, a 120gb Samsung 480.
After that, I've started my computer and it was unbelievably fast. There was not even a loading screen, so that's a great plus. From my bios window to Windows 8 running was in about a second.

But then, I wanted to connect my second (and third, and fourth and fifth drive).
So I plugged them all in, of which one is another SSD and the others just HDD's.

So I boot up my pc, and I saw the windows 8 loading screen, and it took 16 seconds to compleet. So it went from 1 second to 16 seconds...
I disconnected all my drives again, except the main SSD, and it booted up in 1 second again.
So now I only plug in my second SSD, and immediatly it went back into a 16 second boot. (also if i plug in only on HDD, so it's not the SSD's fault)

So, from where I'm standing right now, it looks that if you use more than 1 SATA port, Windows 8 is having trouble initializing the other disks.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My specs:
Windows 8 x64
i7 2600k
Asus p8z68v-pro
8GB DDR3

Reset your bios to defaults and see if everything is properly detected. If so, and you want to try and get back to that 1 second boot, I would advise you to contact ASUS support because many of those fast boot options just don't play nice with Win 8. However, I also have fast boot options in my ASRock UEFI BIOS as follows:

Normal
Fast (6-7 seconds)
Ultra (1 second)

I can also tell you that I have no issues with the Fast option but I wouldn't touch the 1 second option with a 10-foot pole because too many people have reported issues with it. Just consider this as an FYI. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I will contact ASUS for this issue :)
