Windows Startup Item

I just did a clean install of Windows 8.
I notice that in Task Manager>Startup tab there is an item for Logitech Download Assistant.
Why is it there?
I have yet to install any of my Logitech software.

I've seen that also, my guess is it comes in though Windows update. I just uninstall it in add remove programs as I never use it.

Problem is I don't see the that it has been in stalled.
I looked in Programs and Features and Installed Updates.
It's not there.
OI had to go into the registry to delete the item form the Run key.
Although I could have just disabled it.

Ok, I was just going by memory. I'm on my laptop and that doesn't have any Logitech peripherals connected and I don't have Windows 8 installed on my desktops anymore. I do remember seeing that download assistant installed before I installed any Logitech software. I could have sworn it was listed in add remove programs. You can kill it in mscofig too, maybe that's were I saw it and disabled it. Wish I could have been more help.

I'm no spring chicken either. You've stopped it from running so its now dead in the water. I know how you feel though, it would be nice to be able to uninstall it.

Use Autoruns and locate the entry there. You will see a path to an executable and a registry entry. You can disable those or delete them. You have already disabled that but you can still locate the executable, just to see where or what it is.
