Power Options Problems

Hi

I get a lot of random freezing on Windows 8 Pro on my Acer aspire laptop that has i5 core and 8gb of ram.
I was told to put my power option onto High Performance instead of balanced which is the recommended. I was also told that balance power and power saver both have bugs in them on Win 8 and this maybe the reason i am getting freezes. Has anyone else had this problem or is aware of it?

Thank You for replying

Andrew

In my experience High Performance on a laptop generates alot of heat which can damage your processor, video card, and/or battery if left unchecked. If you have temperature monitors that can notify you of dangerous temperatures or even throttle down or shutdown your system then thats fine, its safe to leave in high performance.. There are viruses that consume 100% of your CPU to create such a problem.. You can tweak your High Performance settings to throttle down the processor when it starts getting too hot, and leave all the other benefits the same. The bottom line is if your system runs cool most of the time, then no worries. If your system runs a little warm like mine then balanced is the safe zone for me.. I dont notice the throttle down most of the time since I usually use low cpu intensive apps and pretty much only browse the web.. I did create a kind of a kill switch for when my laptop is running hot and im not there to catch it, it puts the computer to 50% processor speed, which cools it down pretty quickly and notifies me by lowering the screen brightness.. Thats my opinion, everyone has one.. Lets hear from others...

What do you use your laptop for? Mainly internet or actual programs that require CPU.. What are your laptop specs? cores? speed?

Right now im on high performance and my temps are only 150F with two youtube videos running, thats good for me.. But if i run programs as well, it will jump..

High performance does not put your computer to sleep.. ever.. unless you tweak it to allow sleep..
