I use Google all the time and don't like Bing whatsoever. I would like to get rid of it because it is causing unnecessary stress and anxiety at my age I don't need this OS trickery and rubbish.

I would love uninstall Bing, get rid of it completely, because it's interfering with everything else, and has caused me grievance since getting this new computer. I don't need this new technology that isn't user-friendly.

So, please can someone help this old fellow in getting some reality back into my normal OS usage that is FRIENDLY.

I can't get my Web Mail like I use get my Web Mail, which is a Bigpond account.:( This WIN 8/Outlook has grabbed everything like a bag of lollies!

I can't attach files when using Outlook/Hotmail.:(

I can't open my Facebook IN messages as it appears blank, and the only way I can solve the problem is to CTRL-SHIFT-DEL (Browser History), and why this is so is beyond any comprehension.

Is there anybody out there who can give me a definite and helpful answer. I have already posted a questions before, but received no answer.:dinesh:

So thanks for any help you can give this switched on old senior:cool:?:D

Hello confused123,

You can uninstall Bing Desktop in "Programs and Features" like below to remove it. It's the same way as it was in Windows 7.

Programs and Features - Uninstall or Change a Program - Windows 7 Help Forums

As for your Hotmail issue, you did get a reply to your thread 4 weeks ago at the link below, but you never replied back to. You will need to reply to the link below to continue to get help with that issue.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for that. I had FB problems with IN message box which wouldn't download and appeared as a blank. After many tech support help message to FB there was no help coming forth, and I then discovered if I used CTRL + SHIFT and then DELETE, I deleted "Browsing History" and that fixed the FB problem, and it appears that it may have fixed the "Attach File" problem.

Sorry about the other problem I had, as it appears the notification may have gone astray, and I was having enormous problems trying to familiar myself with my new computer that was factory set up on WIN 8. I was happy with WIN XP and Vista.

Anyway, all seems to be okay, and I assume by uninstalling BING Desktop, I will get rid of it completely, and will not affect any other applications in Win 8, as I would love to get rid of the other START UP screen that also drives me up the wall.

Oh well, in time I may become fond of it, and thanks again for your assistance.

Also, is there anyway that I can still open Web Mail separately, because if seems as though WIN 8 wants to grab it, and in the process wants to amalgamate all my HOTMAIL accounts together with my WEB MAIL. Am I being fussy, and am I able to set it up separately? At the moment I open my provider's site to access my mail, where before I just clicked on "MAIL" in WIN Vista and it was there...Thanks again for any help..

HI Confssed,

You must be the same age as myself, "39" and holding.

There are several things you can do to allow your email to appear in a standard desktop mode. One is to get an app called ModernMix put out by Stardock. ModernMix allows you to run Modern Apps in the normal desktop mode instead of the full screen mode used for Modern Apps.

Another one is Window Live Essentials email program (the one I use). This you can downloaded from Microsoft. This will allow you to use the email program in the standard desktop mode. . .Good Luck:D

confused123 , i found it less confusing to click on the desktop start icon and go to the desktop and use the IE browser to access hotmail/outlook.com email . then i installed my favorite [FF]browser and started using it , then i installed windows live mail and set up my 5 email accts to work from there instead of the on the WEB ,except for when i away ,then i use the web site .

for programs i want to use from my desktop i just right click on the start icon and check off pinto desktop taskbar , then i used my mouse to drag the desktop icon in start to be the first icon at the top of the first row on the left ,now when i boot the computer i just hit Enter and it goes right to my desktop ,I rarely use the new metro apps[ i do use a few music radio ones and a few others ,] or the new start screen ,i never use metro mail or IE10 metro . hope this help ,and
if you need to search for info on the computer just open the Start screen and start typing , Typing in Help will reveal some good results .

Thanks for that CJ, I'll see how I go. I moved my desktop image on the START menu to the top LH, and will see if it opens up on the desktop first off. I pinned my WORD to the taskbar, so I can open WORD and not have to go to that START Block System to open, and when I clicked on the taskbar (WORD) it began to go through all the registering rubbish again to activate the programme with MS. Fair dinkum this WIN 8 isn't USER-FRIENDLY at all.:D

Hi Lee,

Crikey I wish I was 39 again. Closer to 80 than 70. I found that I had already installed Win Live Essentials, and discovered my Web Mail...Whoopee...now I am all fired up. I'll give Stardock a miss, not game to go to extreme. These MS programmes these days, seem a bit insidious, and don't trust them or have any faith in them. Thanks for your help...:dinesh:
