I was trying out the recimg function today for the first time and encountered the 8007002 error. I tried both the manual method and RecImgManager from Slimware. Both failed. All posted remedies on Microsoft were inapplicable, as were the few other listings on other sites.
What I discovered was that there were downloaded, but uninstalled, updates waiting. I installed the updates, then added chkdsk prior to reboot. Once the PC rebooted after installing updates and doing the chkdsk, I was able to manually create the recimg manually without problem. RecImgManager also worked correctly.
Hope this helps someone else.
