Just purchased a new Laptop with Windows 8. I have all issues that users have been experiencing post upgrade including SLOW internet, SLOW bootup, SLOW when opening folders, Unresponsive, CNTL ALT DEL does not respond often for 5 minutes, Does not open many standard format files including zip and pdf without crashing although system does not indicate any pending updates.
My productivity reduced by a factor of 10 at minimum. Disappointed is an understatement.

Did your computer come with a lot of pre-installed trial versions of software? I would uninstall those that you will never use.

This is my living room PC with Media Center. Not a gamer.
I had similar problems as you when I first got my new laptop about 6 weeks ago.I did a factory restore and it seems to have sorted out all the problems. It's worth a try.

Funny, my tiny gutless Aspire One with an Atom (first gen) processor handles 8 Pro without a fuss.

Return your machine I reckon! If it can't keep up with a $200 netbook running 8 Pro.

It's either your machine or the installation, but the OS is just fine. Refresh or a total reset will most likely sort you out. Give it a go.
