When I start up, log off, or shut down my PC, (Just upgraded to windows 8 pro a few days ago from windows 7 pro) I get a black screen for 30 seconds to a minute. The screen is back lit, and windows 8 still functions 100% afterward. I have updated all drivers. My specs (beside motherboard) are all in EightForums so you can see everything there. Here is a video on youtube so you can see what I am talking about. *Annotations are important! Make sure they are on please.*

I do not understand what you mean... like, why would I want to restore my system. Everything works fine except for the black screen thing.

I mean did your installation ever (not every) work properly? If it did, then you might want to try a system restore.

Do you have any external hard drives plugged in? Unplug them.
They cause super slow boot times when I leave mine plugged in. Not too bad on the log off and shut down though...

Also Try removing any other add on hardware to see if that helps.

Try the system REFRESH first, if that doesn't fix then go for the full RESET.

    Too many systems and combinations!
Might want to read up on what happens when you click shut down.
Its not truly shutdown, its a type of hibernate - so its writing 'settings and stuff' to the hard drive before turning off.
Same with the startup - its pulling those saved 'settings and stuff' from the hard drive, writing them to memory.

So some of the black view time depends on the cpu, hard drive, and memory speeds to get stuff off the drive into memory. AND your superfetch/prefetch comes into play too. Needs like 6 restarts to build the prefetch.

It just sort of worked, don't know why, but it did. Not complaining! :D I just don't know why that happened, on to issue number two!
