Hi there
Running WEI gives me strange results.
For example I have an SSD connected to SATA1 as my OS disk and primary (and only) boot device.
When the WEI runs on Primary HDD performance I can hear the Spinner being used and see the HDD light come on during part of the assessment.
There's plenty of memory in this computer (16 MB).
Why is the HDD being used at all,
The same SSD in a laptop gave me 9.1 wheras on this machine I get 7.3 which is just plain bonkers. I'm actually using the SAME physical SSD in both machines -- not two of identical types -- so the test should give consistent results.
To ensure the SSD hadn't degraded I re-installed it in the laptop -- after a bit of "Getting devices" W8 booted up and still gave me 9.1 for the SDD.
Re-plugged back into the desktop and got again 7.3 although to me the computer seems lightning fast.
If I disconnect the Spinners then WEI for the SSD does in fact give me 9.1 so something is totally bonkers with this test.
So what's the difference. --The laptop has a dual I3 processor, the desktop a QUAD AMD 3200 Mhz processor which beats the pants off the I3 good though the I3 is. (The I3 is perfectly fast enough for my laptop needs and uses minimal power --long battery life --I'm not a gamer etc).
So can anybody tell me why the WEI on Primary HDD is messing around with the "Non Primary HDD's" on the system.
A separate SSD diagnostic test indicated the SSD was functioning just fine so I can only assume some of the processes in the WEI are just plain JUNK.
Cheers
