Last 4 Years, I used Symantec Ghost to take Full backup of OS. Now i am running Windows 8 and also Symantec not released a version for Windows 8. Symantec Ghost is really useful, because after installing OS, i install necessary software. Then take Full Image backup. And also if i face any problem, i can restore OS with Backup image.
I want a software that works above mentioned way. Any one know a perfect solution for this.

I use Acronis True Image. But, you need the current 2013 version for Win 8.

I make full hard drive (all partitions) backups to a separate drive. Restoration if a drive fails, can be done easily and fast. I recently did a firmware upgrade to my SSD for Win 8. I made a full backup, then did the firmware upgrades which removed all data from the drive. Then restored the drive in less than 30 minutes from the backup. Acronis has a procedure to make a bootable rescue disc, boot with that and do the restore.

If you make a full hard drive backup (I assume you have a PC with a PC Vendor recovery partition on it) All Partitions to a separate hard drive, then you will be able to fully restore the PC, including the recovery partition and all software, just as it was when you created the backup.

When you install Acronis, the first thing you need to do is create the Acronis "bootable recovery CD". This is a bootable disc that you use if you ever need to restore the hard drive from a backup. The next thing to do is create a full (not incremental) backup of the entire hard drive (all partitions) to a separate hard drive. This will give you a complete backup of the drive. Then periodically make new full hard drive backups. If the need ever arises you can completely rebuild the hard drive to the condition it was in when you did the last backup - all software, user data, etc.

Windows 8's built-in imaging program works as well as anything, is much simpler to use than many retail programs, and has only let me down once since the Vista days. Surprisingly, many still seem to be unaware that it even exists.

I have a copy of Aomei, which I'll be trying-out when I get the chance.

We know that it exists, but we like the additional functionality and flexibility of the third party utilities.

My apologies, pparks, I didn't intend to come across as condescending, or a know-all. Sorry if it seemed that way.
What I meant was, most people I speak to, or whose machines I work on, seem never to have heard of it. It's saved
my bacon a few times. But, as I said, I'll be trialling Aomei, and I'll see how that goes.

No need to apologize, I was simply stating why we sometimes use other tools. I didn't feel your post was any trouble.

Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows and Linux - Acronis

Hi there
Just to remind you folks out there that Acronis 2013 stand alone restore now also supports UEFI boot and protected UEFI boot -although for protected UEFI boot you have to switch the protection off in the BIOS to enable the boot from the USB / DVD. switch it back on again after the restore if you want to. -- Done in the BIOS.

(Enter the 4 digit number prompted on the BIOS screen -- you won't see anything oin the screen when you enter the number but enter with the keyboard and hit ENTER when finished).

Machines like HP Envy series now come with Windows 8 pre installed on a UEFI protected boot.

cheers
