Hi,

Does windows 8 need another antivirus?

Is windows defender able to remove all types of virus and malware, etc?

if it is not able to remove, what is the best one?

Just get avast! anti-virus as an add on

i have been using it since August with just Windows Defender,and i will keep using it with out any other 3rd party fulltime virus program , did with win7 the whole time i had it installed ,and now in duel boot ,so good so far

If you want more features than avast! is a good choice. But honestly I've been using Windows Defender and haven't had an issue (along with MSE for Win7). You might want to consider adding Superantispyware and Malwarebytes though.

Windows Defender for Windows 8 = Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7. IMO, you don't need to and built-in Windows antivirus doesn't make your PC slow unlike those from 3rd party vendors.

I've had win8 since October and I only have Windows Defender - no problems so far

+1 for the built in Defender (and MSE on Win 7).

If you decide you want to use something other than Defender, like maybe Avast, then you might want to see if you can somehow disable Defender because running two AVs at the same time might cause problems.

If you install a third party security like Avast or AVG, they will disable Defender AV and leave only the Windows Firewall on, you don't have to disable Defender.
