I Don't Know What To Do :P

So I guess this goes under the general maintenance thread but basically Windows 8 doesn't want to seem to hold itself together for me. For some basic information first I am running Windows 8 64-bit version (actually bought it, not pirated). It was a clean install from Windows 7. Also I'm working on a desktop which specs I feel are irrelevant because my problems are completely with thew OS.

I just noticed a few weeks ago that there were some quirky things going on. Every time I tried searching in Metro it would kick me out, the store wouldn't let me update anything, my mail would only show me like half of my e-mails, etc. The first thing I did was check to see if there were any updates but every time I tried to access Windows Update it froze. It seemed to me that Windows Update on my install was broken so I used the "refresh" feature to re-install the OS while keeping my personal files.

After "refreshing" everything worked fine again...until today that is. I cannot access the store at all, the mail app keeps dropping e-mail accounts randomly, and I once again cannot access Windows Update. I do not want to re-install again if its just going to happen again so for now I'm just going to deal with it.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this and I have no clue what's causing it. If it helps any, the only things I've installed are Spotify, Steam, Itunes, and Chrome. I was really looking forward to Windows 8 and thought it was a revolutionary concept but the fact that it has become dysfunctional is making me consider downgrading back to Windows 7...even if I have to buy a new copy that will cost over $100.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Apps not working seems to be a fairly common problem. It's happened to me a couple of times. One day they are working, the next day they won't open full screen. early on I suspected it was a video driver problem, but never confirmed it. I tried a lot of things, did the repair and a refresh. It didn't fix it. Ended up doing a reinstall. Most of my problems were with the DP, CP, RP versions. I haven't had a lot of problems with the final 8 Pro release. You say you did a clean install "from Windows 7". Did you actually run the install from a booted up and running Windows 7? If yes you may want to do a clean install booting directly from a DVD or USB thumb drive.

I didn't install off of a usb or cd but it wiped my entire hard drive soo it should have been clean. And I think the problems just with inconsistency because today I was able to access Windows Update. Other than these glitches I've loved Windows * and would really like it if everything worked every time. Thanks for the suggestion but I just installed all my programs again so I think I'll just wait and see before doing another fresh install. Who knows, maybe Microsoft will release some mind-blowing updates that fix everything.
