Solved Can't shut down! What should I do?

Whenever I try to shut down Windows 8 by choosing "Shut Down", I get "Windows 8 has encountered a problem and we are reporting it and will restart your computer..." then my my machine just restarts.

The only way I can shut it off is to pull the plug, pushing the power button does the same thing.

This can't be good for my computer.

How do I fix it so that I can shut down my PC by clicking "Shut Down"?

You might turn off "fast startup" as a test to see if that may help. It has been reported to cause shut down issues with some folks.

I'm guessing you get a blue screen, what does is say? I had the same problem and it wasn't the Fast startup. Turns out it was a driver that charges apple devices when the computer is turned off. So it would be helpful if you tell us exactly what it says...
