When I first press power, my pc comes up with Preparing Automatic Repair, with the windows logo, followed by diagnosing your pc.
After that it comes up with:
Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC.
Press advanced options to try other options to repair your pc, or shut down to turn off your pc.
Log file: c:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt

So I clicked troubleshoot, tried refreshing, comes up with 'There was a problem refreshing your PC. No changes were made.
p
I didn't want to reset my laptop, so I tried System Restore. That came up with You must enable system protection on this drive, your PC can't be restored

So would someone help me PLEASSEEEEEE!
Edit: I am running an Asus Eee from 2009, upgraded from Win 7 home premium.

Hi MonkeyGR, welcome to the forums, look for "Optimize drives" in services and make it Auto, if you have SSD, don't forget to switch back to manual or disable. System restore should work.

If he hasn't got any shadow copies, he won't be able to do system restore, sadly.:(

@Monkey,

I assume you made an image of your existing system before you upgraded?

If not - it doesn't look too promising.

You might have to try and save your data off the drive - using some kind of boot media, then try and reinstall an operating system.

If win8 is the only you have - then you will have to use that.

Oops.. I didn't make a system image (I'm not very technical) so now what (I'm a little confused :() and anyway... If reset would be one thing would work, I would be (kind of) happy to do that, but not much.
ortherwise, my computer is just gone? :cry:
And ps. I downloaded windows 8, so don't have a cd to boot from.
