Solved Dual Boot Internet Connection Issue (Win8 connects, Win7 does not)

I finally downloaded and installed Windows 8 on my computer today. It has 3 hard drives, an SSD that has Windows 7, and two other drives that have media and other stuff. I shrank one of these volumes and created a new 50 GB partition for Windows 8. The install seemed to be without any glitches and I spent some time exploring the new OS.

After a while, I rebooted to go back to Windows 7 and the network adapter would not connect to the internet. I rebooted and went back to Windows 8 and it did connect to the internet. I should note that upon reboot, the screen was black to make the choice of OS, unlike when 8 first installed.

Basically I get the " Local area doesn't have a valid ip configuration " problem. I tried cycling the modem/router/pc with no luck. I reset the Internet Protocols as suggested but that did not help.

I uninstalled the adapter and let it reinstall in case it was a driver issue, no dice.

I did let Windows 8 do some updates if that is relevant.

Any ideas or suggestions? I appreciate any help.

I gave up. I could not get it back online even after a restore so I did a fresh reinstall.
