Ping test

I was recently reading a topic at another website where a member was doing ping tests. They found that doing the ping test in Safe Mode was appreciably faster than normal Windows. Can someone please explain why this would be?

Less CPU intense processes. No need to run a ping test in Safe mode. If you are doing it from normal mode. Most people do it, because of remote servers acting up.

I personally never do a ping from Safe Mode, pinging in normal mode will produce the information I would want. The difference in the speed is the only thing I was curious about. I am aware that there is a limited amount of applications and drivers used in Safe Mode, this is why it is an excellent platform for troubleshooting. I just wondered if there were other variables which would come into play. Less CPU intense processes is a good example, thank you for that. I'm a little surprised this hadn't occurred to me.
