Does anyone have this device on their system?

This is different than the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter that sometimes pops up. And there does not appear to be info about this adapter when searching the internets.

If I uninstall it, it just comes back. Disabling does not seem to cause any errors and that's what I've done for the moment.

Just wondering how it got added.

It most likely installed with your drivers for the wireless connection. I'm not sure why it installed WIFI direct virtual adaptor rather than the Msoft WIFI virtual mini port adaptor.

The mini port adaptor can cause connection problems on some systems unless it's disabled.

You should be able to uninstall it completely by following the link below.

Hy there
did you by any chance have HYPER (Ms's "lean" virtual machine system) enabled -- this will use the Virtual adapter for a VNET switch (virtual network switch).

Doesn't actually matter even if it's in the system anyway. Won't do any harm.

Cheers

Yes that's pretty cool although the guys doing the demo had lots of problems along the way.

The port for this probably installs with Windows 8 certified drivers.

It's like having a built in portable network. Looks like this would eliminate the need for the Msoft virtual WIFI miniport which was prone to causing connection problems.
