Wifi problem, taking longer than usual but still connects

Hello everyone,
I have a weird Wifi problem. My computer was fine but it started recently when I moved. Anyway, whenever I troubleshoot the Wifi it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource www microsoft com ..." Of course I googled the error message and followed almost everything that I could find but to no avail. Here are some of the things I tried:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /all
netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
Made sure that ipv4 and ipv6 address are set automaticly, and so for the DNS
I've updated all the drivers
Error when I use netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt hit, it says access is denied
I'm not using any proxy server

Here are some background on the problem:
Using a university Ethernet and using "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Placeholder_Network_Name key=Placeholder_Password" to setup a hotspot. Before and during that it was working fine. I didn't notice it til I moved.

Here are some things that I noticed that could help determine the problem:
Eventhough it says that the connection is limited, I can still use the internet, but with occasional times where it says that it's still connected but I can't use the internet. Or sometimes it loads half the page and then stops.
Disabling avast felt like it made it better but it still did the weird thing from time to time

And the problem is definitely from my laptop because other devices can connect to the same Wifi just fine.
Thank you.

A little overboard. Since it is an issue at your University. You need to get with whoever helps students out with connecting to the Domain/LAN. If it is on your own private network. Being on the University would not have anything to do with the issue, unless your university LAN loaded a Proxy setting into Internet options.

Where is this problem occurring, at the University or elsewhere?

WHy did you use this command? netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Placeholder_Network_Name key=Placeholder_Password

Was it something the University requires? Did they tell you how to undo it settings? Maybe that's all you have to do if the problem is other than at the University.

I have never seen hostednetwork used before so know nothing about it. What is it supposed to do? The built in help says:

Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>netsh wlan set hostednetwork /?

Usage: set hostednetwork [mode=]allow|disallow [ssid=]<ssid>
                         [key=]<passphrase> [keyUsage=]persistent|temporary

Parameters:

    Tag Value
mode Specifies whether to allow or disallow the hosted network.
ssid SSID of the hosted network.
key The user security key used by the hosted network.
keyUsage Specifies whether the user security key is persistent or
                    temporary.

Remarks:

This command changes the properties of hosted network, including: SSID
of the hosted network, allow or disallow the hosted network in the system,
and a user security key that is used by the hosted network.

The user security key should be a string with 8 to 63 ASCII characters,
eg. a passphrase, or 64 hexadecimal digits which represent 32 binary
    bytes.

If keyUsage is specified as persistent, the security key will be saved
and used when the hosted network is started again in future. Otherwise
it will be used only when the current or next time the hosted network
is started. Once the hosted network is stopped, the temporary security
key will be deleted from the system. If keyUsage is not specified, it
    is persistent by default.

This command requires administrator privileges to allow or disallow the
    hosted network.

Examples:

    set hostednetwork mode=allow
    set hostednetwork ssid=ssid1
    set hostednetwork key=passphrase keyUsage=persistent

What does netsh wlan show drivers show you. Hosted network supported : Yes

Sorry I wasn't too clear. The reason I mentioned my University is because I thought that it was the reason the Wifi doesn't work. And the reason I used that command is because for some reason, they didn't have Wifi at their dorms, only Ethernet. So I had to setup a hotspot by turning the Ethernet signal to a Wifi signal using that command.
Also, I'm no longer at the University, the Wifi doesn't work at a private network, or rather doesn't work properly.

Make sure your computer is set up for a "Workgroup", not for a "Domain". Also check Internet options in Control Panel, to make sure no proxy was put in place, from when you were at the university. WiFi is always going to be spotty on campus. All due in part, because of the construction of the dorms and campus buildings. Which will always be either Concrete Block, or Concrete walls.

Your internet connection via WiFi is working correctly. It is getting a good IP from the router and ping of yahoo.com works correctly.

You didn't post the output of the reg query command. Would like to see what the Proxy settings are.

What web browser do you use? Which ever one you use, try resetting it. Each one does it differently.

The problem isn't because of the browser. Whenever I try to connect to Wifi it starts acting weird, even before I open the browser.
Also, this is what I got from the reg query command:
Code:
    AutoConfigProxy REG_SZ wininet.dll
    MigrateProxy REG_DWORD 0x1
    ProxyEnable REG_DWORD 0x0

What do you mean by acting weird? What tells you this is happening if not your browsers?

What is your network setup like now? What are you connecting to, ISP Modem or your own router?

By acting weird I mean that whenever I choose a Wifi network to connect to it "takes longer than usual". And if I wait it out it says that the connection is limited. However, the Wifi icon in the system tray indicates that the connection is fine.
When I go to a browser (I'm using chrome but I don't think it matters because I tried IE and the same problem happend) to do stuff I can still use the internet, but with occasional times where it says that it's still connected but I can't use the internet (chrome gives me a "timed out" error). Or sometimes it loads half the page and then stops.
Everything works fine when I use an Ethernet cable.

Have you tried downloading the latest Intel Driver? If you are using the Intel Wireless Zero config, turn it off and try Windows Wireless Zero.

You may have to go as far as removing the driver and the hardware, then reboot and load the latest driver for the wifi adapter.

Can you please elaborate, broe23? How can I know which driver or config I'm using? And where can I get the Intel wireless Zero or Windows Wireless Zero from?
Thank you.

Just found this neat tool, inSSIDer. Gives you a good look at your wireless network.

Hello Ztruker,
So I tried the program that you gave me and I kept an eye on the program for few hours and everything seems to be working fine. Everything that's supposed to be green is green and it looks consistent all the time, even when I lose connection. I think what the program displays is only how strong the signal is and nothing about the connectivity to the internet.

Rats, I was hoping it would show you something.

The driver for your wireless is here: Intel download center

2015-07-09 11_20_24-Intel® Download Center.jpg

It would be worth downloading and installing it to see if it makes a difference as Broe23 suggested.

Hello Ztruker,
Thanks for keeping up with me through this.
I did download and install the driver that you suggested but I'm still having the same problem. It seems like this driver is for bluetooth, not Wi-Fi.
I'm still not sure what the source of this problem is. How can I find the source of this problem? Is it surely a driver problem? Could it be something else? And how can I eliminate the other possibilities?

From what I can find, Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 is a bluetooth device.

Try the Intel Driver Update Utility. I've used it several times and it works pretty well, see what it tells you.

Also the DNS Suffix is in the IPv4 properties for the adapter settings. That is what is probably screwing things up. You can also try Farbar's Tools Searching for farbar Try the 2nd & 3rd ones.

ZTrucker actually depending on the Computer, BT works or does not work. I have one in each of our Toshiba Satellite C850D's that my wife & I use. BT does not work on ours, because Toshiba did not spec the motherboard in our laptops as being capable.

They only need the latest Intel Dual-band 7260 full package or just driver from Intel's download section.

I missed the DNS Suffix completely, good find.

DNS Suffux Searchlist

Description:

Determines the DNS suffixes to attach to an unqualified single-label name before submission of a DNS query
for that name.

An unqualified single-label name contains no dots, such as "example". This is different from a fully qualified
domain name, such as "example.microsoft.com.".

With this setting enabled, when a user submits a query for a single-label name, such as "example", a local
DNS client attaches a suffix, such as "microsoft.com", resulting in the query "example.microsoft.com", before
sending the query to a DNS server.

If you enable this setting, you can specify the DNS suffixes to attach before submission of a query for an
unqualified single-label name. The values of the DNS suffixes in this setting may be set using comma-
separated strings, such as "microsoft.com,serverua.microsoft.com,office.microsoft.com". One DNS suffix is
attached for each submission of a query. If a query is unsuccessful, a new DNS suffix is added in place of the
failed suffix, and this new query is submitted. The values are used in the order they appear in the string,
starting with the leftmost value and preceding to the right.

If you enable this setting, you must specify at least one suffix.

If you disable this setting, the primary DNS suffix and network connection-specific DNS suffixes are appended
to the unqualified queries.

If this setting is not configured, it is not applied to any computers, and computers use their local configuration.

Doesn't sound like that's the problem here, but who knows. Here are ways to clear it:

DNS Suffix Search List

about a third of the way down the page is how to clear this using regedit.

For BT (Blue Tooth) that's all I could find for the specific device shown in ipconfig /all. Do you know of another?
