Hi there
this little trick STILL works in W8 RP.

If you want the standard RDP --= not the stupid Metro version then simply at the command line - normal user -- not as an administrator enter the command mstsc.exe

You get all the options back including the remote computers desktop themes etc as well.

If you open it that way it doesn't but you can get the metro version from the store because I don't think it comes on preinstalled on windows 8 release preview

But the remote desktop app does come pre-installed, so i'm rather confused why someone would make a big deal about how the app that doesn't come pre-installed isn't the only way to use remote desktop when the app that does come pre-installed still works the same way it always has.

This whole thread is pointless. Until Jimbo went on his rampage, I didn't even know there WAS a metro remote desktop app. I just started remote desktop the normal way, the way jimbo seems to think is a "trick" of some sort. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I had to install the metro version after I had installed windows 8 release preview but the other one comes on there.

Anyone got a problem with a ctrl key while jumping in and out RDP screens? Mine keeps getting stuck randomly. Pressing CTRL will unstuck it.
