XFINITY Comcast Internet
XFINITY Modem
Windows 8.1
Ethernet : Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
Wireless : NETGEAR Wireless Adapter
I've effectively ruled the problem to be ONLY on this computer.
Alright let's begin. I have 2 major problems.
1. Due to a recent lightning storm, I've just recently purchased a replacement XFINITY Modem(unfortunately -_-). The XFINITY Modem before this replacement always had my Ethernet wired connection at a solid 30 mb/s on Speedtest so I know my wired connection can reach those speeds. However, after this replacement modem my Ethernet wired connection is CONSTANTLY capped at 2-9 mb/s (It will never go above 10). This has been happening for a couple weeks now, and I've lost sleep trying to fix it. I've tried everything, literally, virtually, everything. I just don't know what the hell to do anymore. The fact that I even registered to post this thread and one on tomshardware shows I'm desperate enough. I just want to play video games guys :/
2. My Wifi. My wireless connection on the other hand passes the usual Speedtest 100%, 30 mb/s, every single time. The only problem is, and I'm not completely sure how it is triggered, after a couple hours of use on the wireless card my ping will begin to climb into the thousands, and it will stay there until I literally plop the card out, plop it back in. Fixed just like that until the next climb.
I swear, the amount of time I've spent on this matter is mindblowing, I've lost all hope. I refuse to spend money on anything unless it's a hardware issue, which I highly doubt. The NETGEAR card is a very expensive, and fairly new device. The Modem is brand new. My computer is in top shape in all other aspects, and my ethernet port/cord/what have you worked literally right before I hooked up the new modem. If anyone could even ASSIST me to the grand solution I'd be most grateful
Thanks.
