Bought a NAS, would this memory work in it?

I broke down today and bought a turnkey NAS, it's an ASUSTOR 5104T, and it seems to have some awesome features, however, I would like to upgrade the RAM the minute I get it. I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to RAM, would this work with it?

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C11S-8GRSL - Newegg.ca

Asustor only list their ram as being compatible, but the prices are CRAZY expensive... for instance
8GB DDR3 UDIMM RAM Module

And should I get 1 8gb stick or 2x4gb sticks.. ? (any benefit)?
Help Please :)

Why do you feel it needs more Ram? They usually don't require much memory.

How many VMs can it run at the same time?

No idea, I'm a noob to this stuff. But I gather from forums that virtualization will require the extra ram.

You are better off using a server with a Xeon Dual or Quad Core CPU on the motherboard. NAS's are not made to take the place of a server.
