WARNING : Win 8.1 and Intel PROset Wireless Software

Had problem last few days with loss of Wi-Fi speed (posted on this forum in fact) ......... trying this, .... trying that ..... went to Intel ... used software updater ...... when I tried to install it, it said I had NEWER software already installed (????) and would not let me install. In Control Panel/Programs, I found a version 17.14. whatever (don't remember the last 2 digits) while the version I had just downloaded was 17.13. 11. I uninstalled 17.14 and installed 17.13.11 and speed is much much better. I think Intel made a boo-boo. It might be a good idea for them to have a field for email addresses so they could warn you if you happened to download sour software. So, if you are having wi-fi problems and have version 13.14. ?? software, try making a change.

I have never had any issues with the Intel drivers for my wife's laptop that has a Dual-Band Wireless-ac 7260 mini-card installed.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki had no problems with fission until the end of WWII .... I've worked with computers full time for over 20 years as a pharmacist .... all day long every day ... constant interaction ....... numerous software and numerous hardware ... in my opinion "Computer .... your name is problems." The only people who don't make mistakes are dead.
