Hi guys

I want to share my Internet connection through wi-fi and specs are as follows:

Server Laptop: Windows 8.1 (connected with USB Dongle)
Accessing Laptop: Windows 7

I searched on Internet and found these useful links to do this.

I did all i.e. I created hostednetwork, started network, showed network (by cmd prompt) and I can see new network in "Network and Sharing Center". But the problem is newly private network is showing "no network access". See this image View image: wifi hotspot problem

Although I have done every thing correct, hotspot created and sharing is also done but don't know why newly created network don't have internet access?

Any tip, what to check and where to check?

When you check the box "Allow other networks users to connect through this computer's internet connection", you also need to click on that drop down labeled "Home networking connection:" and select "hotspot 2" from the list.

EDIT: I just tried it on my Win 8.1 laptop. The instructions say to select the newly created network from the Drop down list but it doesn't appear in the list.

I found one Wifi hotspot free software at MyPublicWiFi - Virtual Access Point and now I can see that "internet access" is showing.

See below image at my Windows 8.1 Laptop where I am connected with Internet by USB WorldCall Dongle.

See below image at my other laptop having Windows 7 where I want to access Internet, you can see wifi network is connected but at that PC "No Internet Access" is showing. View image: wifi hotspot problem 3

Now since my main Windows 8.1 laptop (which is connected with Internet by USB Dongle) is showing that newly created "hotspot 2" is working fine and showing "Internet". But at other laptop Windows 7, "hotspot 2" is showing "No Internet access".

Any tip, now how to deal with this?

I was going to suggest you try one of the many free Hotspot creation programs to see if they worked any better for you.

So even though MyPublicWifi is reporting that the the connection is working, when you connect a client it shows connected to the hotspot but no internet access? Does it get an IP address?

Try opening an admin command prompt (on the laptop that isn't getting internet) and run the command "ipconfig /all" (no quotes) and post the results here.

Hi man, see this image, I did what you said. Wifi utility running at Windows 8.1 is showing that other laptop with Windows 7 is connected and also IP assigned. You can also visit image here View image: small laptop ipconfig
