My wife and I both have the same laptop. (my profile has the specs)
We have to use our cell phones as hot spots for our internet. We each connect through our own phone.
That part is fine.
What we want to be able to do is share a file or send a note (such as a URL) without having to do it through
email. We used to be able to use a program called ATnotes when we had cable internet. We were able to
connect through our home network. The computers, through the router, to the modem. Because we each connect using our own phone as a hot spot we are not networked.
The two computers are side by side. So a direct connection is fine. Also i don't want to have to disconnect from
the phone to connect to another shared network just to send a quick note (ex: a really long URL) then switch beck to the hotspot.
Is this possible?
My computer to my phone and to her laptop
Her computer to her phone and to my lap top. All at the same time.
If any of this is not clear please let me know.
Thanks for any help.

Are you tethering to your respective phones via USB cable or wireless ?? If USB, then you should be able to set up an adhoc wireless network between the two computers. There's also a wired option since they are physically close to one another. I haven't used direct connection in years and, frankly, I don't know if it's even supported or not.

the PC's have to have some sort of common network - be it wired or wireless..

your present network - works best via email - as the only thing in common is the internet

unless you can share via a Bluetooth connection either via phone or laptop.

That is the answer I is was hoping for. We tether via USB.
Didn't want to lose my internet just to connect the laptops.
Thanks for the help.
