I'm using windows 8.1 and i'm connected through wifi to a network. Another PC on the network having windows 7 installed and a printer connected to that PC and shared publicly.
During the period when i was using Windows 7, when I was printing from MS Word (Office 2013) to a network printer (windows 7 installed) it worked perfectly and when I was clicked on the print button print goes immediately. But now i'm using windows 8.1 and on the same PC when I click on the print button MS Word takes too much time and becomes unresponsive and after sometimes it comes in to live. Sometimes it displays a message "connecting to a printer" and it also take too much time.
Not only MS Word but also every application takes time when I try to print any web page or documents.

Please suggest any solution. I'll be highly obliged.
I work in an office environment and it really annoying.

Is there a way to put your existing printer on the network directly and not as a shared printer? That would be the preferred way of putting a printer on the network. It would work better too.
