I have created an FTP site in Windows Explorer to an external FTP.
A shortcut to the FTP site appears in the Computer folder as expected.
But when I try to drag it as a link to Favorites it will not show up in Favorites list.
When I click at the link in Computer folder then it pops up in the Favorites list.
How can I make it to always show up in Favorites ?

I find it best to use ftp.domainname.com to get the login page then click the small icon at the left end of the address and drag to the Links toolbar. Or just bookmark it. For mine the actual address is ftp://ftp.mydomainname.com/ and I am given the panel for my login data. Mostly I just use CuteFTP [Globalscape].

OK - but I used 8.1 built-in FTP server feature under Internet Information Service.

If I drag the link (in Computer folder) for my FTP site to Favorites it will not show in the Favorites list (left pane of Explorer) but when I click at Favorites the link is there (right pane of Explorer) with the other items in the list ... hmmm
Seems that the link is in the Favorite folder but it refuses to be displayed at Favorites list

Hmmm, you are talking about File Explorer in Win8.1 versus Internet Explorer, right? Shortened names don't help.

Sorry - my mistake.
I meant File Explorer in Win8.1 all the time ...

Happy New Year :)

As far as I've ever seen the left pane isn't for files, only Folders. You can have subFolders and see them by clicking a small arrow at the left side of an entry. Clicking a Folder or subFolder shows the contents in the right pane. Double-clicking a Folder in the right-pane opens its contents.

I have dragged the FTP site - Stadion (Server) - to Favorite from computer BEGONIAN.
As you can see it is in the Favorite folder but not on the Favorites list ... isn't that strange ???
Sorry that all is in swedish but I think you understand my image ...
