Slow wifi connection - Adapter problem or Windows 8?

I just bought a new computer and it has a wireless adapter already plugged in the USB internally. It is a Realtek RTL8811AU Network Adapter. I am running off wifi on other devices in my home right now and the connection is perfect for those. When reading the reviews for my computer, which is this one iBUYPOWER Source Series NE654X Desktop PC AMD FX-Series FX-8320 (3.50GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Newegg.com, a lot of the reviews said that they had problems with the wifi adapter too and the internet worked after they downgraded to Windows 7. I thought that was the problem but looked into it more and some people on a different forum told me that it is not a problem with Windows 8 and it is a problem with the Wireless Adapter. I'm not too sure now, because the reviews said that the adapter worked well after the downgrade. I need some opinions and help because being on a slow internet connection is killing me. Let me know if you need more information.

Is there an antenna on back of computer? If not, the signal may not be very strong and you may be losing throughput because of it.

Yea, that's not good, don't know how going to 7 would make it work that much better. Unless there is someplace to connect an antenna on the motherboard, I would get a different adapter. Sorry. :(

Well, read the review on Newegg about wifi not working right on 8.1 with any adapter but works fine on 7. Very strange indeed. Don't know what to tell you.
