This is my LAN @ home. I set up all the PCs.
The workgroup is the same. I know all the passwords and logins.
7 is wired to a switch that is connected to a router. 8.1 is connected to the router via wifi.

I am trying to connect to a 8.1 PC from a 7 Ultimate pc.

7 sees 8.1 in explorer and asks for log/pass.

In 'Control Panel/User' on 8.1 I have 'Home User' (not really) as the login. Just mentioning it because there is a space between the 2 words. I doubt that matters but I just can't figure out why this isn't working.

So I'm typing in Home User OR / Administrator with the password I use to login to 8.1 on the start screen and it fails every time.

You have to use an account with its password that is on the other machine. Not the same one you logged into the computer with. Basically setup the same account & password on both machines.
