Proxy Server not responding

My computer updated this morning and ever since, I have been unable to access the internet. I have tried using Google Chrome and Internet Explorer and haven't been able to access any games through their independent clients. When I do pull up IE, it gives me an error page that reads:

The proxy server isn't responding
-Check your proxy settings 127.0.0.1:8800
Go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. If you are on a LAN, click "LAN settings".

-Make sure your firewall settings aren't blocking your web access.

- Ask your system administrator for help

This is on my home computer. I have an Xbox 360 and a MacBook, neither of which are having issues connecting to the internet (I'm currently on the Mac). I have tried to use the tools option and tried to turn off/reset the proxy settings several times, but each time I exit they switch back to what they had been. Any help would be wonderful.

As a temporary measure, if you used your Mac to download the PC version of Firefox and installed that, you should be able to use Firefox without issue. Chrome, for whatever reason, honors a lot of IE settings, such as proxy settings, whereas Firefox rolls its own.

Thank you for the suggestion, but while I was at work, my wife ran a full virus scan and found several corrupt files. After fixing the issues IE started working normally. I will probably download Firefox just as a different option if a similar issue happens again.
