WoL - Works after a few minutes, but not hours

I decided to get Wake-on-LAN reconfigured on my desktop to be able to turn it on whenever I want to, if I just so happen to forget to do so in the morning.

I forwarded port 9 on my router, set within the BIOS to wake from a PCIe device, and set my Ethernet adapter in Windows 8 to allow itself to be woken up (both "allow this device to wake the computer" and "only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" are checked -- not sure if the latter should be unchecked).

Using a WoL iPhone app as well as TeamViewer's WoL feature, I can wake from a normal shut down only within a few minutes of shutting the desktop down. It works for both local Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connections. If I come back hours later, neither the WoL app or TeamViewer's WoL feature will be able to wake it up. The Ethernet light on my router is orange (instead of the usual white) at all times when the desktop's shutdown.

I read that Windows 8's fast boot feature could cause problems with WoL, but it doesn't matter if it's on or off for me, as this will still happen.

Anything else I should try?

Really big bump. I think I had this fixed at one point, but after my clean install of Windows 10, WoL doesn't appear to be working like it should.
