I live 20 - 30 minutes north of DC in southern MD.

T Mobile gives a lot of perks especially 3 GB data for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Verizon has fewer perks and 1 GB data for the same money and has the Lumia Icon.

It seems Verizon has the greater area but T Mobile the fastest 4G and LTE.

The coverage maps are fuzzy.

I may ask for a test drive 30 days to see.

What is your opinion on just the choices on the board?

Hi there again, Peter. As you know I've been cell phone since the first bags and worked construction, so it's been very beneficial for me. I've been through the gamut of carriers.

You shouldn't have problems in your area with reception. There should be towers galore. The test drive for 30 days is a good idea. It really depends on if you do any traveling to remote areas. Vz does have the biggest area, followed by AT&T then I believe T Mobile.

I was with Vz for about 7 or 8 years with contracts, but bought my AT&T branded Lumia via the MS online store and went AT&T prepay. I don't know if the president signed the "unlocking" bill that was passed by both houses, but if he does we will be able to unlock our branded phones and go to any carrier any time we choose. Now the competition is on to keep customers. Things will get better. Most of them are offering sweet deals.

Three of my children have T Mobile with that family promo going on. The more people you get to sign up reduces the monthly payment. One of them is down to $20/mo with unlimited everything. Not a bad deal if they're still offering that.

Hope that helps you again on your decision.

ATT prepay

Could you clarify the ATT prepay for me? I did look it up.
I think you buy the phone outright then use the ATT plan but am not sure.
If you get a high end phone it might be a strain to pay for it up front and would want to put it in with the plan - if that is the case.
How is your coverage compared to Verizon?

You can look at the coverage maps at 3G and 4G LTE Cell Coverage Map - OpenSignal Personally I would go with Verizon, since they have a larger coverage area, and better data packages, than T-Mobile. T-Mobile shares towers with ATT. So in reality, they are just using ATT's marketing in trying to make people think that they have faster speeds.

If anyone has the fastest and best data coverage. Once again, it would be Verizon.

Thanks alot for clarifying things for me. Location, location.
I am now leaning toward the Icon with Verizon but i want to try it first.

T Mobile seems to entice you but when it comes down to it they may fall short in coverage.

AT&T does not have the Icon 8.1.

With all the research i have done i have not much respect for any of them but tin cans don't do it.

Windows Mobile 8.x devices are disappearing quickly. Due to Microsoft is getting to where they are not really supporting the manufacturers and the OS after 2014. Too many losses in that division. Because of people not purchasing phone's that have their OS on it.

Only one you can find out there, is the Nokia, if you are lucky to get one. But personally I would steer away from Windows mobile and stick with either the Android or iOS platforms.

Windows

It took me a long time to reach the same conclusion. thanks for putting a lid on it.
I am gin to get the Samsung Galaxy S5, learn the different OS and then get a Chromebook for my wife.

Carriers are still in the air but Verizon keeps sticking it to me until I remind them there is competition in town then they give in and offer another GB data.
T-Mobile has been showing the most integrity so I'll give them a try and if I don't like it I will give it back -this is on their grace period.
Thank you for a solid opinion.

Yes that is correct with the 5 & 6. The 6+, which is a little larger, has already sold out with all carriers. As for Android OS & Chrome OS. Keep in mind that Chromebooks require network access in order for them to work. Because they are based on Chromium OS. As for Android. It is a good platform. I have a Google Nexus 7 tablet, that I use for eBooks and web browsing.

What for? It's a phone, not a desktop tower PC. We're not going to calculate projectile paths with it. :p

Overpriced pieces of trendy costume jewelry IMO. How much do these beasts cost? What about battery life?

Anything that has Android on it is just a downright cheap phone. Been through that.

If one is an Office user, one has to consider that. MS offers many more services than the other two, especially backing up.
