Hi guys. My SO is Win8 64 and I've accessing this pc almost everytime by remote desktop. From inside my network and from my work pc (port 3389 open). Last week, suddenly it stopped working. I didn't make any change. I have already tried to change the rdp port to 3391 but I'm still unable to connect to it. Can someone give me some tips?
Thanks

Hi,

1. What settings have you got set in the 'Remote Settings' screen?
Can you remote to that PC from any computer or do none of them work?

2. Try disabling the firewall on the machine you are connecting to for a minute to test if you can remote to it with the firewall turned off.

Regards,
Jamie

Probably your ip has changed, check it with
Code:
ipconfig
and make sure you are trying to connect to the right ip I always setup my ip to a static ip so that it never changes

Hi again. My ip is the same. Several services running on this pc (like plex, servetome, VNC) still work from internet and from inside network. RDP just stopped working.

In a command prompt on the computer you are trying to connect to run
Code:
[COLOR=#333333][FONT=Lucida Grande]netstat -a -o[/FONT][/COLOR]
and look for port 3389, If it is not listed enable remote desktop

Hi. Port 3389 is not listed but remote desktop is enabled. I've tried to disable and enable again and still not working.

Are you trying to connect via IP or Name?
If you are connecting via Name can you ping the name?

Click Start >> Type CMD >> Click Command Prompt in the search results
In the black Command Prompt window type the following command:

ping <computername here> (without the greater/less than signs '<>')
then press enter

When I ping pcname it replies a ipv6 ip. I've disabled ipv6 on network adapter properties but still happens the same. But if I ping my ipv4 ip (192.168.1.10) it replies also.

Are you trying to connect to the computer via name or IP?
If connecting by name have you tried connecting via IP directly?

I've tried to connect via ip also. It behaves like to RDP is disabled on my host pc. Can I try to enable it on registry? Or maybe the service is not running? What is the service name?

This just happened to me as well. From the Start Screen, type 'allow an app...' You should see the entry for the 'allow an app through the firewall. Click on it and it will open the Allowed apps screen directly. Scroll down until you see Remote Desktop and see if it is enabled. The checkboxes may be grey, indicating a partial configuration.

If you are comfortable with it, just click on Advanced Setting button near the top of the list. You can then changed any entry. Go to Remote Desktop and toggle the checkbox until it is white and checked. Then click on Okay to save.

Be careful. Checking the boxes may allow full access for private and public networks.
