No Wifi after standby

After my laptop wakes from standby, wifi will detect no networks. Turning wifi off/on via harware switch on laptop does not help. I need to perform a reboot to get wifi to work again. Laptop is S10-3t with a Broadcom wifi card. It worked fine in Win7. Any idea how could I fix that? I have installed official drivers from lenovo's website, but it's same issue.

Instead of rebooting, right click on the wireless icon and launch the troubleshooter and let it repair issues.

I have this problem too, and this seemed to help.

I have already installed original drivers from lenovo website.

And that's precisely why I offer a better alternative. The manufacturer (Intel, Atheros, Broadcom, VIA, Realtek) may have a more up to date driver. I would hope so because I am seeing driver state power failures from others who have installed wireless drivers from the laptop vendors, on 8.

:)

If not, you can always Google hunt for a laptop or other model with your same hardware id for wireless. Then visit that laptop maker and see if they have a newer driver to install.

I had this problem, still do sorta.
Initially after I installed CP, everything was fine at first but a day later when I installed the Windows Updates, my Wifi would only work for a few minutes at a time. I had to keep running the Troubleshooter.
I eventually installed newer drivers and the problem went away.

However, some updates installed today and when my computer goes to sleep or standby I have a Limited Connection afterwards. I have to run the troubleshooter to repair it and then things are fine.

Im going to delete the adapter and then reinstall the drivers and see if this helps.

Unfortunately, even after installing new drivers I still have to run the Troubleshooter to fix it after Standby/Sleep. I dont know why it happened suddenly when it was working fine before for days. I thought it might be one of the Windows Updates but im not sure.

My WLAN card is from Broadcom and I cannot find drivers on their site.

Troubleshooting does solve the problem, but it's tedious to run it after (almost) any wake up.

Right click on it in device manager, properties then details tab. Change the dropdown to say hardware ids. Then copy/paste the results below to here.

Are you using x86 or x64?

I am facing a similar problem of wifi getting into limited connectivity after every resume from sleep. The problem however goes when I run the network troubleshooter but that is really annoying. I have tried downloading the Windows 7 x64 drivers from the HP website for my HP 6515b but that does not solve the problem since the Broadcom drivers that come with Windows 8 are newer than the ones available on HP website.

My wifi is Broadcom BCM4312 using on Windows 8 x64.

The ID details of my Hardware are below:

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1371103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1371103C
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&CC_0280

I have also tried unchecking the IPV6, it some how seems to solve the problem but the trouble is that the check box also comes to checked by itself, so some of you might also get to solve the problem of UNCHECKING the IPV6 settings in the adapter settings of the wifi, this was posted in MS technet forums.

PPl I think I have found a solution:

The basic solution is that we should UNCHECK IPV6 (for those who don't know, please search). Now the problem with my system was that the IPV6 option was by default getting checked/enabled even after I unchecked so the system used to resume with the limited connectivity.

Now I tried to disable IPV6 by default in the registry and bingo the problem is gone....I am not longer getting the limited connectivity when I resume from sleep, though I must clarify the moment I resume the system is in limited connectivity for sometime like 10 seconds or so and then it comes to the full connection, it seems to be a much better situation than earlier.

Please note the link I used to disable the IPV6 in registry:

How To Disable IPv6 In Windows 7 & Windows 8

Will keep every one posted if I get this problem again.

I made this for you, including a driver date of July 5, 2011. To install, right click it in device manager. Update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse.

Now find the bcmwl6.inf in the extracted folder from the download and double click on it. Hit next then ok and it will install.

Where did you get the original driver, if I may ask?

Sure thing. From Microsoft server, although Broadcom is the author/maker (must use I.E.):

Microsoft Update Catalog

You can search for VEN_14E4&DEV_4727 on there and download yourself. Extract to a folder. Then open its .inf file and compare to the one I gave you.

I just made small changes so it will work for you, that's all. I've been doing this for many years and would like to think I'm somewhat trusted around these parts by long timers. :)

Edit: I fixed the search string above so you can find it on there. If you include the whole string, it will not show anything...and that is precisely the reason I had to edit the .inf for you. :)

I have a Realtek wireless adapter. Would the same sort of change work for me? What exactly did you change with his? I couldnt tell by comparing the two inf files.

@Davegx - Realtek has the driver for you on their website, dated July 5, 2011. It should do very well. 8192SE

Realtek

If for some reason it doesn't install well, check the .inf for your hardware id to be present. If it is not, try with one of the 8191 downloads.

It's not for you, but just to specify what I did anyway - the new .inf has this instead of the third (of 4 in total) hardware id in every mention:

"%BCM430N_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XNG20_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_051014E4 ;WNC"
