I had the Developer Preview setup as an RDP server. I can't find the same setting in the Consumer Preview.

Does anyone know where it is or if it is still there?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Hi there
You can RDP to your Machine from any other machine just like before but you need to set your W8 machine up to allow incoming connections as follows.

I've actually answered my own question.

On Windows 7, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Remote and turn on Remote Desktop. The setting is also in Windows 8, but the Control Panel, in all it's glory, is hidden. Now it is accessed from Explorer, and I created a convenient shortcut on the desktop.

But my real issue was in VirtualBox and not not in Windows 8. I am running Windows 8 in a VM, and not on its own dedicated box. VirtualBox allows a session to things as a Remote Desktop session. I hadn't played with the Developer Preview for a few months and forgot how I had Remote Desktop setup previously.

Using Windows 8 from a Remote Desktop allows me to play with it from a tablet, in my case both Android and iPad. It is not the full experience of using a true Windows based tablet, but a novelty at this point. Certainly a Samsung Series 7 Slate would be a better choice. I am particularly interested in ARM based tablets down the road, but Windows 8 is only available on Intel platforms right now.

It doesn't have to be a server to have RDP. It's just a feature of the OS like command prompt.

The proper name is Remote Desktop Services. And aem is correct, it doesn't have to be a server to serve the desktop.
