I have this system with 8gb ram and a 40gb hdd, it works fine locally but when i login remotely it sometimes lags. All other pcs i use TV have no issues, its only this particular unit, i am using a direct gigabit connection no wifi.

I assume the cpu is not powerful enough for remote, but wanted to confirm

Yes anytime you log in remote with programs like Teamviewer. There will be lag. Make sure that TV is set to remove background, and set for auto for Quality and to Optimize connection quality. Even across a LAN. There can be some lag when doing certain things. But not that bad. Unless it is something really memory intensive, say like a game.

As for through the Internet. It all depends on connection speed between computers.

Just an fyi. I would put in a larger hard drive on the asus. 40gb is cutting it. You can get a Crucial M500 120gb or even 240gb SSD pretty cheap these days.

I am aware of the lag factor, but on this particular pc its pretty bad at times with the others working just fine. The others are all i3 or higher.

This pc is dedicated to remote usage, and the only thing installed is windows 8 so there is plenty of free space. It is optimized for speed and i am also using the basic theme in windows to cut on resources.

It all depends on how Team Viewer is set up on that computer. Anytime you remote into a computer. There can be a variance in lag computer to computer. See my note about difference in connections that can also cause lag.

The CPU can if it is an older machine running Team Viewer on either the Remote end or the computer you are using to access the remote unit. Mostly it is Internet Connection that is the problem, if you are using Teamviewer to connect to a system that is not on your LAN.
