Solved Hidden Network interference

My wife's ASUS Win 8 laptop on a local network some how got connected to "Hidden Network" instead of the Normal ZFHL2. She was unable to shutdown last night. Finally she pulled the battery to power down. This morning after re-installing the battery, boot was normal and the connection was ZFHL2. We removed the "Connect Automatically" check from hidden network but it comes right back. We would like to remove hidden network to prevent this from re-occurring, we have not found a way to do that. Any suggestions?

With a signal that strong the hidden network is most likely a guest network from your own router.

I don't see a way to add or display a Guest Network in the Actiontec MI424WR router.
The only recent (4/21/2014) change that I have made is to disable SSID broadcast.

Disabling SSID Broadcast is a false sense of security. That is why you are seeing the word "Hidden Network". If you want good network security. Make sure you use a strong administrator interface password, along with using WPA(tkip)/WPA2(aes). Also that you are using a good strong passphrase.

Now go reenable the SSID Broadcast.

I put the SSID Broadcast back to the way it was , Enable, and the Hidden network went away!
I'll tackle WPA(tkip)/WPA2(aes) when I learn more about it.

There is nothing to learn about using WPA or WPA2. You just go into the Router Wireless Security and change it to WPA(tkip)/WPA2(aes). Then restart and that is it. You are not going to be performing brain surgery.

OK Bro23,
I would like to understand WPA(tkip) and WPA2(aes).
I think that my Actiontec can use WPA or WPA2.
I don't know what tkip or aes is.
