Unable to install NIC's - Invalid data error

Hi,

I am unable to install the drivers for my NIC's getting the error 'Invalid data as shown in the images below'.

It has previously been working fine on all adapters but I needed to uninstall the network cards as HyperV was throwing up an error when creating virtual switches which may have caused this?

I have tried numerous drivers with no luck all getting the same error. If you need anymore info please let me know

The box has alot of data on it so I would rather not have to do a clean install, so any solutions most welcome!

It helps to know if you are using some kind of Virtual Machine software.

there post say they are using hyper-V, Microsoft virtual tool found in pro and enterprise ,win7and 8

There-in lies the problem with what they are wanting to do.

Yes I have HyperV set up but this shouldn't affect the ability to install drivers for the NIC's

I have tried disabling the service and then installing the NIcs but this made no difference

You do not have to install any VM Nic's. The Virtual Machine will install them as needed. As for the drivers. In a reality sense. VM hardware does not use drivers per say. In the sense that physical hardware does.

oh I think you do with hyper-v ,I think that was the reason I stopped trying to learn how to use hyper-v ,I just couldn't figure it out .

I did not even attempt to play with Hyper-V. Even though both of my laptops that are in our household are capable of using it. If I need a Virtual Machine. I use Virtual Box.

The problem lies on the actual pc itself, forget I am using Hyper-V at the moment. I have 3 network cards that I am unable to install the drivers for currently. I am not installing on Hyper-V but on the actual pc itself - each time getting the data is invalid error or once the driver is installed it says the device has a problem and cannot start (code 10)

Btw Hyper-V is fairly simple to setup and alot more powerful than virtual box, the virtual switch element can be a pain but once configured its great.

yeah for me no issues setting it up, just the network part ,followed TechNet info and still could not get it working, will try again one day ,a good winter project

just a thought

As you said everything was working OK, but with error messages,
why not roll back to a prior date, and then TURN OFF not dissable hyper v, see under tutorial section.
