If I should not Post this on this forum, feel free to help me and tell me a forum for this.

The other day, I built my first server (Well, not really built it, It was an HP Pavilion XD) I set it up perfectly with Windows Home Server 2011 and when I went to set up remote access, I get this (the attachments)

My router is a Linksys WRT160Nv2. I set up UPnP and did what Microsoft said here for my router: Windows Home Server Router Setup - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

Any help?

P.S. My ISP is Wave Broadband here in Bow, Washington.

Well, the first thing we need to know is, does the server have a static IP address or Dynamic? Normally a server will have a static IP address but sometimes not.

1. Check for a static ip address
2. If not static, change it to a static ip address

Report back what you find and we'll dig a little more.

For the static IP are you talking about the router or the Windows home server?

I will try the port forwarding tomorrow. It seems more foolproof than the automated way.

Your server needs a static IP address. your router will have an assigned IP address by your ISP provider. Your server "should" have an ip address of 192.168.1.xxx.

So set your server to a static ip address before you do the port forwarding, that way you will know what port you need to add forwarding on/to. Like this:

Hope this helps.

So something like 192.168.1.104? (Server IP) I hope people can't connect to it now!

Yes, something like that. But, normally the ip address that you showed above is usually assigned by the DHCP server, which in you case is your router. So double check if the server ip address is "STATIC" and not "DYNAMIC".

The ip address you provided is behind your firewall (the router) and no one can access it unless they know your routers IP address. I will be traveling all day today so I will not be on the forums until tomorrow. So if you need help, ask the question and I'm sure someone else will chime in to help.

You need to user your browser and type in the IP address of your router, something like this:

http://192.168.1.1

When it prompts you for a user login/password, provide the login/password and you will be at your router configuration page. Every router is different so you will have to look your router up and then follow there instructions to set up port forwarding.
