Samsumg laptop unable to connect to internet

I have a samsung laptop and 4 days ago the internet access stopped working. I normally use it via wireless and I have tried it hardwired - no luck. I have restored the internet settings. The response I get when trying to connect to google is 'waiting for google.com' and it just hangs.

Please do not get too technical when providing me with a response I don't understand all the jargon.

hello and welcome to eight forums, first thing to try would to power off the router and power it back on wait for all the lights to come back on ,and try connection to internet again.
also some users leave there computers on all the time ,if you are one of those people please shut down and restart you laptop

If that doesn't help, do the following please:

Click on Start then Run or press Window key (next to left Ctrl key) +R and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

If you don't have a Run selection off the Start menu, see here: How to access the 'Run' box in Windows® 8.1 - YouTube or open the Modern desktop, type run then click on Run that appears.

If even that doesn't help try these commands out with "command prompt" opened as admin.

route -f
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
arp -d *
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
