Cannot Reach Networks

Hello. Recently, my Windows 8 has been working fine, but when I woke up this morning, I was not able to access the Internet. It has been int he same spot for the last few days and Internet was perfect, but this morning, it would not connect to any. Basically, it won't even list any. I know I'm not too far away and I'm sure it's still working because:

1) My father and sister are using it.

2) I've gone to two different houses with different internet, nothing changed.

I've been trying to fix it since 7 this morning and I feel like I'm going to just burst into tears of frustration. My audio is also not working, but I care more of getting the Internet working. And my computer will not allow me to turn on Windows Security Center.

I hope someone can fix this, and if they do, I will be seriously grateful. Thanks much, sincerely, Heather.

Well it would help to know if you have looked to see if the unit is in Airplane Mode, or the wireless is turned off. The other is what is the manufacturer & exact model number of the device? Also is this a Tablet, laptop, Ultrabook, or Desktop.

The problem is I cannot find Airplane mode. There is not a key on the keyboard to turn wireless on and off either, at least I do not think so. I will do a bit more troubleshooting on airplane mode though. Also, it is an IdeaCentre Desktop. Model Number is B540.

I don't seem to have access to even find Airplane mode. Also, I'm suppose to have something called "Wireless" in my PC Settings menu, but it isn't there.

Go into Desktop mode and then into the Control Panel. In Device Manager, are there any devices with a yellow ?. Is there any devices that state "Unknown". In Network in Device Manager, does the WiFi adapter show up in there?
