Solved Can access internet; can't see PCs in LAN wirelessly

Sony laptop 8.1-pro 64 bit. When connected to a wired Ethernet connection I can connect to internet, access everything, see shared folders, other PCs. But when connected wirelessly, though I can connect to internet, print to Ethernet printers, see Roku box, when I go to "Network" the only computer is the one I'm on. Netgear Genie sees all the computers.

I have an XP system and a linux-based NAS that I need to connect to, so Homegroup is not an option.

The router is a Netgear WNDR300v3 with latest firmware.

I have spent several days reading forums, Googling, trying various things, but I have yet to come across an exactly equivalent problem and none of the tweaks I've tried has had any effect. I am including ipconfig and some other data to provide a first bit of information hoping that one of you gurus will be able to come to my rescue.

Did not really need all of the screen shots. The first thing that is looked at for this problem. Is what Firewall software being used. Is the router capable of stopping computers on the LAN from being able to ping each other, along with isolating them from each other. As if you were on a public LAN.

Look at the info at EZLAN.NET to get a better idea what you need to do. Out of the box. Everything should be able to talk to each other. That means workgroup is "Workgroup". Firewall is set either to be off or set to "Private LAN". No Static IP's, no weird IP scheme.

Broe, thanks for the feedback. Retired from the old grind also, but beginning to think I've found a new one.
The screen shots were there mostly in the hope that someone would see something I missed.

Looked at EZLAN and don't see anything specific to this problem: works wired, fails when wireless. The only thing changed from pure vanilla is the name of the workgroup - on every computer. The network is private, but I have tried disabling firewall altogether to no avail.

Today obtained and reinstall the most current driver for the wireless NIC card. No change.

Was there something specific you were thinking of on EZLAN that I ought to look at?

It's acting like the wireless is on some type of a guest network which would prevent access to the rest of the system.

Try reinstalling the driver for wireless and, on the wireless machine with the problem, reset the Workgroup name back to Workgroup then change it to what ever name you are now using for Workgroup then reboot the machine and check for connectivity.

Chev65, thanks for the reply. Great minds think alike: I tried exactly what you suggest last night unfortunately with no success.

There is a provision in the router to isolate the wireless LAN from the wired, but that is disabled. I tried re-enabling that feature, rebooting router and PC, then disabling it again and repeating the reboots. Still no joy. It's weird that I can ping both wired and wireless devices from the wireless laptop successfully EXCEPT for PCs that are wired. On those the ping fails.

The other difference that occurred to me is that the wireless PC is the only one that has a Microsoft online password. The others are all local. Does that suggest anything (no messages about password problems)?

I'm not sure what you mean by online password? Do you mean to say that the wireless machine with the problem is using a Microsoft account?

I should ask, have you set the wireless to be a "Private" network rather than a Public one?

Then make sure you have set the Advanced Sharing settings for the Private Network with Network Discovery and everything else enabled etc.

Any type of third party anti virus or firewall installed?

Yes, I meant a Microsoft Account. The answer to your other questions is, net-net, everything was set properly.

It finally dawned on me that I had a very old laptop sitting in a box waiting to go to recycling. So I pulled it out, charged it up and connected to the LAN. It could indeed see almost everything including the laptop from which I could not get to the LAN (Since it's a Sony Vaio, let's call it "Vaio." That'll make the syntax which follows easier). When I tried to access shares on Vaio, it asked me to sign in. I did so using the i.d. and pw for the Vaio. That gave me access.

But the next part both pleases and baffles me. Once that old laptop could access the Vaio, suddenly the Vaio can see/access the whole LAN. I'm pleased that it works, but apprehensive because I don't know why.
