Limited error on work/public Wifi

I recently bought a new laptop (Lenovo T440s, Win 8.1 Pro w/ update 1, Intel 7260AC). I've tried connecting via wireless in multiple locations, and haven't had any problems except in one location, which is at my office's public access WiFi. I can get onto the network and get internet access on my win7 laptop, and on my Surface 2. With the new Lenovo it appears that I've connected to the wireless network, but have no internet connection. When I initially select the network I get connected, and can open a web page. But then it switches to a "limited" connection and I no longer have access.

Windows defender/firewall is on. No other security things that I know of (I deleted the Norton trial that came with it).

There is a screen that comes up when I log on with any device that asks you to accept that you will not download porn, steal the firstborn child, etc. I've bookmarked the page and been able to push the button to agree, but I still lose the connection shortly after that.

I don't have the internet connection anywhere on the computer (this isn't just a browser issue).

I've tried reinstalling the wireless driver. No luck. I have the most recent version (17), and I've also tried installing the Intel PROset/wireless software as noted in this thread (http://www.eightforums.com/network-...wifi-works-windows-7-but-not-windows-8-a.html). But quite honestly I'm not totally sure what to try doing after that is installed. I ran the diagnosis tool, and got a failure on the ping test (No Response: default gateway, DHCP server).

Anyone have any ideas what I should try/do next. Fair warning, my networking knowledge is pretty bad, so I might need a bit of a description on what to do.

There are countless compatibility problems with AC adaptors and older N routers. Intel keeps updating the drivers for this reason "compatibility".

You should try the very latest drivers from Intel to fix this problem, no guarantee's here...

I would talk to your IT group about the issue, or the company that manages the Public hot spot. They are going to be the ones to help you figure out why your computer or other users cannot connect.

Intel has fixed the problem with the driver for the 7260 Dual-band Wireless-ac chipset, back in Feb.. They just updated the driver on 3/18/14. The Bluetooth part on 4/10/14. Both parts should now work with 8.1.1. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Se...ductProduct=Intel®+Dual+Band+Wireless-AC+7260

I've already installed the 3/18 driver (no luck). I'm not sure on off the top of my head if I have the updated Bluetooth one. My guess is no, but I don't really know if that would make a difference with my issue.

If you do not use Blue Tooth. You do not need the driver.

I figured out the fix. I had a period of a few days where it would work, then not, and go back to working, etc. Finally realized it worked when plugged in, but not when on the battery. So I went into the power settings and changed the WiFi card to max performance on battery (it was already on this setting for plugged in). Problem solved.
