My grandmothers computer just started having this problem. It shows she's connected to the internet and such but she cannot connect to any web page or use any yile or app that requires internet. I thought I had initially fixed the problem as it used it originally had no internet connection, to fix that I reset the winsock registry file and that fixed the problem. But she still couldn't use any internet application.
Her computer specs:
Dell All in One
Intel Pentium CPU G2030T @ 2.60GHz
4GB RAM
Windows 8 64 bit operating system

Network card is Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz)

router is Arris model TG862G/CT

What does it say in browser status bar when waiting for the connection? Does it say "looking up yadda yadda" or "waiting for..." or just says nothing and times out?

On chrome it automatically takes me to the webpage not available no matter what site I go to. Same with internet explorer.

Yeah, but does it or does it not display any information or error message. Every browser I used says "connecting" or "looking up" etc. If you can't provide anything then there's nothing to work with.

Have you rebooted/repowered the router and the "modem"? Also, if you can try another computer or mobile phone to see if it is the computer or the connection itself that is bad.

For grins you could try this at the command prompt
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

then just run
ipconfig

to see if it picked up the name server.
On the WiFi section it shows no DNS server.
Why that is I don't know. But sometimes if it's flaky, like some problem at the ISP, those iponfig commands will bring DNS back for awhile. Then it will drop out again, usually on next boot.

Are her numbers the same as your in these settings:
Changing DNS Settings in Windows 8

I don't know why her system would drop the DNS and not yours unless it's hardware related.

Okay so I went into her properties for IPv4 and for some reason her stuff was not set to automaticaly assign her IP address and had a static entered. I set hers back to auto assign. Mine was already set at automatic assign. However after going into her properties I did notice that her IPv6 wasn't showing network access.

I noticed a VMware application was running in the ipconfig/all, these virtual machine apps can cause connection problems on Windows depending on a variety of factors.

Can you uninstall the VMware from this system then run then unzip and run the file below which will reset the network stack, flush the DNS, reset winsock, renew the IP etc. wait until it reboots your machine automatically then if you can post the ipconfig/all again it would be helpful. :)

I just assumed that the ipconfig was from the machine having the problem. No need to uninstall if this is on your machine.

Try running the ipreset file on the machine having the connection problem then post the ipconfig/all from the machine having the problem if you can.

If running the IPReset file has no effect then try following the directions in the following link to check if there is any system file corruption or store corruption. Report back in and let me know if the system past these tests or not.

HiJackThis is showing some problems. Did you manage to fix this, when you clicked on the Fix this radio button? It looks like there are some other problems like the Winsock, which can be fixed with the netsh winsock reset catalog.

I take it that you also ran Mbam. I could not see the tddskiller txt file. Just came up garbage in the three in the zip file.

The Farbar tools over at bleeping computer.com can fix the Internet issues. Try those also.

I ran CCleaner, Mbam, HitmanPro, MGToolsm RougeKiller, and TDSS Killer.

The VMware software is on my computer not hers. So do I still need to do that?

I just assumed that the ipconfig was from the machine having the problem. No need to uninstall if this is on your machine.

Try running the ipreset file on the machine having the connection problem then post the ipconfig/all from the machine having the problem if you can.

If running the IPReset file has no effect then try following the directions in the following link to check if there is any system file corruption or store corruption. Report back in and let me know if the system past these tests or not.

Okay I ran the tests this is the results from the ipconfig.
